GOT A STYLE QUESTION

  • DOES YOUR CONSULTING FEE INCLUDE MONEY FOR SHOPPING?

    • No. The fee is purely my consulting fee, and you then assign additional funds for your shopping purchases during our shopping session (STEP 2).
  • WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE YOU OVER ANOTHER CONSULTANT?

    • If we end up working together (which I suggest we do for the sake of your style and confidence), you will see very quickly that I’m very down to earth.

    • However, when it comes to my ability as a specialised men’s only image consultant, I don’t hesitate for 1 second in saying that I don’t believe there is another consultant in the world (let alone Sydney or Australia) who will be better suited to helping another man create the sharpest possible overall image (style and personal grooming) that aligns to his personality, social life and career.

    • But talk is cheap and that was a huge claim I made, so let me back that up with tangible reasons why:

    1. I'M AN IMAGE CONSULTANT......NOT A PERSONAL STYLIST:

A personal stylist does the following:

    1. Reviews your wardrobe.
    2. Takes you shopping.
    3. Might tell you if your haircut is decent or not and maybe suggests a different style.

As an Image Consultant, I do the following:

    1. Uncover the goals you are seeking and striving for within your career, social and/or dating life. Once identified, I can then most accurately advise on the signature style and dress code specific outfits that will best serve you in reaching those desired outcomes.
    2. Identify how many of the 5 core dress codes are required to create your signature style and the outfits within it.
    3. Gather your feedback through a series of reverse engineering exercises. I have created these exercises in order to make sure that the signature style we create results in you feeling sharp-dressed rather than feeling like a try-hard or a person you really aren't at your core!
    4. Review your wardrobe with detailed feedback as to why each item should be kept, donated or requires alteration and the type of alteration required.
    5. Assessing your hairstyle and advising on potential new hairstyles to best suit your face shape, hair type, hairline and the desired outcome of your career, social and/or dating life.
    6. Recommendation of which hair styling product to use for your hair type and how to apply that hair styling product for the best-looking result.
    7. Assessing your facial hair and advising if you should be clean-shaven or have either tidy stubble or a well-maintained beard at a length I suggest. The assessment and advice for your facial hair will be based on your facial hair growth/density, face shape and the desired outcomes you're seeking within your career, social and/or dating life.
    8. Detailed learnings on all areas of men's specific personal grooming including skin care, body hair removal and maintenance methods, teeth whitening, fragrances, sweat management etc.
    9. Guiding you through a personalised shopping trip to obtain each of the individual clothing items required to create the signature style we have identified for you during our strategy and planning session.
    10. Turning your wardrobe into a style system to follow through the creation of a personalised set of digital outfit lookbooks that are specific to all of the events / occasions / outings within your individual career, social and/or dating life.
    11. If single and seeking such expertise, I  can guide you through the setup, photo shooting, bio crafting and launching of online dating apps to optimise your dating and sex life.

    2. I’M A STRAIGHT MALE:

    • NOW PLEASE LET ME BE INTENSELY CLEAR ABOUT THIS POINT!!! I don’t have even 0.0001% of bigotry or homophobia inside of me! One of my closest mates is a gay man. Also, I’m obviously brutally aware that the following is an enormous stereotype and so I sincerely apologise for any upset I may cause as that is not my intention whatsoever.

    • But strictly within the parameters of personal styling, on a law of averages, male personal stylists who are gay and female personal stylists tend to push the boundaries of men’s style and often have a sway towards more expressive and even flamboyant styles and outfits.

    • As a straight male myself, I know from a personal perspective as well as the insights gained from consulting to hundreds of male only clients, that men desire to be seen as sharply dressed but in more of an effortlessly stylish manner rather than a flashy and over the top manner.

    • So, whilst I have the range to accommodate to men of varying levels of style expression, I have an acute understanding of when and how an outfit crosses the line from being sharp and memorable to loud and over the top.

    • And I will just point out that I have consulted to many gay men, and several of these clients have actually sought out my help to specifically create a more classic and timeless style to which they found had escaped them through the influences they had acquired in terms of their wardrobe choices as a result of the social environments they were being influenced by. Essentially, these men were copying the styles around them, but realised they were dressing too flashy and not how they felt most comfortable within themselves. And so, were seeking my guidance to strip back their style to be sharp but in more of an understated, effortlessly stylish manner.

    3. SPECIALISATION:

    • I ONLY WORK WITH MEN! I specialise in working with male clientele only. This means, day in day out, one client after the next for the past 7 years I have encountered nothing but the emotional and physical image and dating specific challenges of men. As a result, I have the most hyper-targeted skillset for a male wanting to create the sharpest image possible.

    4. EDUCATION:

    • As a result of going through my 3-step style system, you will naturally learn all the men’s style fundamentals which will greatly serve you for the rest of your life. Those fundamentals include:

    1. How to nail each of the separate 5 dress codes that apply to your personalised career and social life.
    2. Which events require which type of dress code.
    3. How men's clothing should fit.
    4. The brands that best suit your signature style, body type and budget.
    5. Men's brands to avoid.
    6. Harmonious clothing colour combinations.
    7. How to create layered outfits.
    8. How to identify clothing as being of good or bad quality.
    9. Online clothing brands that meet any of your style needs such as your signature style/body shape/height etc.
    10. Non-clothing factors that greatly impact your overall image and level of attraction.

    5. A STYLE SYSTEM:

    • Every single individual sub-step of my comprehensive 3-step style system has been designed to create the optimal end result for my client. Over the 7 years of running my business, I have constantly taken on client feedback and evolved my consulting approach until my process was fully optimised into my current 3-step system. As my client this year, you will be taken through the best system in the market for carving out a personal image that you are confident to showcase.

    6. 100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEE:

    • Because of my one-of-a-kind payment arrangement, my service is 100% risk-free for you as the client.

    • Because of the extreme confidence I possess in achieving the best possible outcome for every client I work with, I will carry out all 3 steps in their entirety, and only after the completion and delivery of step 3 (creation of your personalised digital outfit playbook), will you then receive my invoice.

    • And you only have to pay that invoice if you are 100% satisfied with the outcome I achieved for you!

  • WHAT SHOPPING BUDGET DO I NEED?

A client's budget would fit into the following categories:

    1. UNDER $3'000

    • Not possible to gain a positive outcome.

    • The only exception is if your current wardrobe already consists of all the most expensive items (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes) and you only require the less expensive wardrobe staple items to complete your outfits (T-Shirts, Button-Down Shirts, Polo Shirts, Dress Shirts, Knitwear, Casual Jackets, Shorts, Jeans, Chinos, Leather Sneakers).

    2. $3'000 - $5'000

    • A great budget but requires prioritisation of clothing items that can or can't be purchased based on budget.

    • Without generous sales at the time of shopping, this budget is unlikely to allow for all the more expensive items to be purchased at once (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, more than one Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes).

    • This budget will definitely allow for all of the key staple/versatile items to be purchased (T-Shirts, Button-Down Shirts, Polo Shirts, Dress Shirts, Knitwear, Casual Jackets, Shorts, Jeans, Chinos, Leather Sneakers) and then some of the more expensive items to be purchased (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, more than one Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes).

    • The likely outcome is a small to medium sized wardrobe that consists of every required staple/versatile clothing item and around 3 statement pieces that create 20 core outfits with many more outfit variations to stem from those core outfits.

    3. $5'000 - $7'500

    • An excellent budget that provides great freedom of choice with less emphasis on the price of each clothing item.

    • The lower side of this budget will allow for every required staple/versatile clothing item to be purchased (T-Shirts, Button-Down Shirts, Polo Shirts, Dress Shirts, Knitwear, Casual Jackets, Shorts, Jeans, Chinos, Leather Sneakers) but may not allow for all of the more expensive items to be purchased at once (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, more than one Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes).

    • In addition to all required staple/versatile clothing items being purchased, the higher side of this budget could possibly allow for all of the more expensive items to be purchased at once (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, more than one Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes).

    • The likely outcome is a large wardrobe that consists of every required staple/versatile clothing item and around 5 statement pieces that create 30 core outfits with many more outfit variations to stem from those core outfits.

    4. $7'500 - $10'000

    • An awesome budget that provides excellent freedom of choice with minimal emphasis on the price of each clothing item.

    • In addition to all required staple/versatile clothing items being purchased (T-Shirts, Button-Down Shirts, Polo Shirts, Dress Shirts, Knitwear, Casual Jackets, Shorts, Jeans, Chinos, Leather Sneakers), the lower side of this budget will almost definitely allow for all of the more expensive items to be purchased at once (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, more than one Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes).

    • In addition to all required staple/versatile clothing items being purchased, the higher side of this budget will definitely allow for all of the more expensive items to be purchased at once (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, more than one Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes).

    • The likely outcome is a large wardrobe that consists of every required staple/versatile clothing item and around 8-10 statement pieces that create 40 core outfits with many more outfit variations to stem from those core outfits.

    5. $10'000 - $15'000

    • An amazing budget that provides total freedom of choice with minimal to zero emphasis on the price of each clothing item.

    • In addition to all the required staple/versatile clothing items being purchased, the lower side of this budget will definitely allow for all of the more expensive items to be purchased at once (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, more than one Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes).

    • The higher side of this budget will allow for all of the most expensive items to be purchased at once, and some of these expensive items to be purchased in several colours/patterns (genuine Leather Jacket, Coat, more than one Blazer, Suit, Boots, Dress Shoes).

    • The likely outcome is a  very large wardrobe that consists of every required staple/versatile clothing item and around 10 - 12 statement pieces that create 50 core outfits with many more outfit variations to stem from those core outfits.

  • WHY SHOULD I PAY FOR AN IMAGE CONSULTANT?

    • For the same reason you seek a medical specialist to treat an injury or an accountant to keep you in the tax man’s good books.

    • These professionals deliver an outcome that is streamlined as a result of their expertise and knowledge.

    • If your goal is to be sharp dressed in less than 24 hours, have increased self-confidence and have no confusion or overwhelm when choosing an outfit for any occasion, then an image consultant is the expert consultant you need.
  • SHOULD MEN USE A FEMALE OR MALE IMAGE CONSULTANT?

    Can you:

    • Fix your own car engine when you break down?
    • Fix leaking taps or faulty power switches instead of calling a plumber or electrician?
    • Build a cubby house, deck or pergola?
    • Put flat pack furniture together with zero difficulty or frustration?

These are all stereotypical things that men are meant to be able to do, but how many of those things can you actually do well, or at all? Many men assume or stereotype women as having great fashion sense just because they are female and typically enjoy shopping for clothes.

    • I love music but I suck at singing!
    • I love movies but I can’t act!
    • I love to surf but I’m not great at it!

So don’t just assume your wife, girlfriend or a female stylist is a good person to help you buy men’s clothing items and then advise you on how to coordinate those items into sharp outfits. Let alone advising you on intimate male-specific factors such as your hair and facial hair style and maintenance, body hair grooming regime, sweat management, dating and sex life challenges.

Also, keep in mind that females styling men can often transfer their feminine influences onto their male clients. This can result in outfits that reduce how masculine you appear, or make you appear like a try hard rather than sharp dressed but in an effortlessly stylish way!

At the end of the day, the principles of men’s style and personal grooming can be very complex!! There is much to consider and many hurdles to clear.

You want to get advice not only from somebody who is experienced, but also a man who has personally walked your exact path and been faced with and then overcome those same challenges along his own personal style journey! Not to mention all of the many challenges of the hundreds of male-only clients he has consulted to!

  • WHO IS YOUR TYPICAL CLIENT?

I work with any bloke who finds his personal style and image management challenging and wants to look and feel better, achieve a higher level of confidence and increase their chances of career, social and/or dating success.

    This can include:

    • Mature aged men (typically 45 – 65) who are unsure of current fashion styles, and what clothes and outfits are age-appropriate and won't result in their missus and kids giving them a heap of grief!

    • Any male wanting to look more attractive for dates and social outings.

    • Males in the corporate sector where clothing is your visual resume.

    • Busy professionals and entrepreneurs who are time poor and want a streamlined approach to improving and then maintaining their image.

    • Entrepreneurs, business owners and sales professionals whose first impressions can result in money being made........or lost depending on how well they present and how serious they are taken!

    • Men in professions like trades, industrial, government, armed forces and emergency response who wear a uniform every day at work and may be unsure of how to dress well outside of work and on the weekends in social settings.

    • Men who have recently lost a lot of weight and need to buy clothes to fit their new body shape.

    • Men who have put on weight and need to dress in the ways that are most flattering to their larger physique.

    • Shorter men who struggle with the fact most brands are not well catered to their height.

    • Men who are particularly tall and struggle with the fact most brands are catered to men of average and above average heights but not men who are 6 foot 3 and above.

    • Wives, girlfriends and mothers who buy their significant others clothes but don’t feel confident doing so and would prefer to hire an expert to do this with their husband, boyfriend or son.

  • HOW LONG DOES EACH OF THE 3 STEPS TAKE?

    STEP 1:

    • Takes up to 8 hours.
    • Time variance is based on the size of the wardrobe to review and take photos of, as well as how many questions you may have around all aspects of style, wardrobe management and personal grooming.

    STEP 2:

    • There are 2 phases to the shopping stage which is:

1: Me conducting a pre-shopping session without you.

    • My pre-shop session ensures that our shopping session together is highly targeted for efficiency and the best possible outcome.

    • My pre-shop session will take me around 8 hours to conduct.

    2. You and I performing a shopping session together.

    • Our shopping session will typically take around 10 hours in total. I like to commence the shopping session when the stores open (between 9 and 10am depending on what day of the week we shop).

    • It’s common for the shopping session to last the full span of the shopping center's business hours which are 9 or 10am till 6pm.

    • This time span may shock or even disappoint you, as part of your reasoning for hiring an image consultant is likely to speed up what is an unpleasant task for you. However, see below the various rationales for the common time span of my shopping sessions:

    CHOICES NOT ORDERS

    • I don't tell my client what clothing items to buy! Instead, for every type of clothing item on our shopping list, I pre-select all the best options across different brands (at different price points, colours, patterns etc) and then show my client each of those options.

    • That way, my client has input and our collaborative approach provides him with more peace of mind that there are not clothing items he may have preferred better than just the one item I pre-selected and told him to purchase.

    • For each option I show my client, I explain how each of those clothing options would be utilised within his wardrobe and my favourite of the options. That way my client can make an informed decision based on my guidance  but his final decision.

    WIDE VARIETY OF BRANDS:

    • I don’t affiliate myself to a small selection of stores in order to obtain a personal commission for myself when my client purchases from those brands.

    • Instead of this selfish approach, I don’t receive commissions from any stores. My sole intention is in achieving the optimal long-term positive outcome for my client.

    • This being the case, let’s say for example there are 30 individual clothing items we’ve identified that are required to buy. It’s possible that those 30 items will be obtained through the use of 15 to 20 different brands.

    • My approach is to obtain the very best option for each of the individual clothing items needed, no matter how many different stores need to be attended to achieve that outcome.

    • There is no doubt this approach extends the shopping time and is also more tiring/exhausting for you as the client. But I guarantee that as soon as you’ve arrived home or in the days following the shopping session, you will be very pleased that I took this approach when you realise how many clothing items were purchased for your budget, and how impressive your new wardrobe is. This shopping approach achieves my #1 aim for every client which is a wardrobe that provides optimal value for money spent - ie you are utilising all of your wardrobe items on a regular basis!

    TRY BEFORE YOU BUY:

    • I find Myer and to a lesser degree, David Jones to be great options because they carry a wide range of quality brands all in the same floor space!

    • In addition, they have very large change rooms which allows me to bring in whole outfits that you can try on in full.

    • This means you are able to see how complete outfits look in full before committing to pay for each of the individual clothing items that make up those outfits.

    • Because I take this thorough approach for my clients, the action of trying on a variety of complete outfits is a time-consuming process that extends the total time of the shopping process.

    STOCK/SIZING DELAYS:

    • Standalone brands (not within a department store layout) often don’t have a large enough storeroom attached to their individual store to carry all their additional stock.

    • On occasion, the sales attendant will have to travel to a storeroom in a completely separate area, or a different city store location of that brand in order to get the sizing we need.

    • If this were to happen 2 or even 3 times in the day, this could easily add 60 plus minutes to the shopping session.

    • As for the department stores (Myer and David Jones), they are notoriously short-staffed so this also creates a time delay when sizes need to be fetched from the storeroom and also when paying as the queue to pay can sometimes be long and slow.

    COFFEE AND LUNCH BREAK:

    • We start the day with a coffee to chat through my game plan and any remaining questions you may have before hitting the stores.
    • We then take a break for lunch which is definitely needed as you will likely feel exhausted and need a break. The coffee and lunch break obviously extends the time of the full shopping process.

    STEP 3:

    • The creation of your personalized outfit playbook does not require any time involvement on your part. For me however, it's an incredibly time-consuming process which often takes over 20 hours of work to put together.

    • This time and cost factor is often not fully understood until my client receives their outfit playbook with literally hundreds of outfit combinations, all categorised into different work and social outings / events / occasions.

    • A clients outfit playbook will consist of between 25 - 40 individual lookbooks which he has chosen from the outings / occassions / events below that are relevant to his career and lifestyle:

  • DO YOU PRE-SELECT THE CLOTHING ITEMS FOR ME?

    • I do, but not exactly how you may be thinking! I have not put aside clothes ready for us to try on when we arrive at each of the individual stores. The very specific reason I don’t do so is because that approach suggests that I'm going to tell you exactly what you need to buy and wear.

    • This is not the approach I (and in my opinion any image consultant/personal stylist) should take. Due to my extremely high level of knowledge and taste in clothing, I would have supreme confidence in telling my client exactly what to wear.

    • However, I feel this is disrespectful to my client’s process of updating his wardrobe. A man’s personal style is not black and white, it has many shades of grey and my client is the person wearing the outfits we pick once my consulting process has finished and we've parted ways.

    • Therefore, instead of telling my client what clothing items to buy, for every type of clothing item on our shopping list, I pre-select the best options for each item across all the different brands (at different price points, colours, patterns etc) and then show my client each of those different options.

    • For each of those options, I explain to my client how that item would apply within his wardrobe and together we make informed clothing purchases. This approach means that before forking out his hard-earned money, my client has input and our collaborative approach provides him with the peace of mind that there weren't clothing items he may have preferred more than just the minimal items I pre-selected and told him to purchase.

  • DO YOU TELL ME WHAT I HAVE TO BUY?

    • Absolutely not!

    • As per the answer to the previous question, due to my extremely high level of knowledge and taste in clothing, I would have supreme confidence in telling my client exactly what to wear. But I feel this is disrespectful to my client’s process of updating their wardrobe. Style is not black and white, it has many shades of grey and my client is wearing the outfits we pick once we part ways.

    • Therefore, instead of telling my client what clothing items to buy, for every type of clothing item on our shopping list, I pre-select all the best options across different brands (at different price points, colours, patterns etc) and then show my client each of those options.

    • That way, my client has full input, and our collaborative approach provides him with more peace of mind that there are not clothing items he may have preferred better than just the minimal items I pre-selected and told him to purchase.

  • DO YOU HAVE SPECIAL RELATIONSHIPS WITH STORES/BRANDS THAT GIVE YOU DISCOUNTS?

    • No I don’t! I appreciate this may be surprising/disappointing to hear but there is a very good reason this is the case.

    • I have as many as 30 brands I favour for individual clothing items as opposed to 5 or so brands that I purchase all my clients required items from. This high-volume shopping approach ensures the very best option has been achieved for every individual clothing item my client requires.

    • But as I’m typically not buying a large quantity of items from any one brand, I’m not of high enough value for each individual brands store manager to provide discounting.

    • But please trust me, a core reason for my high-volume brand shopping approach is not only to secure the best style for each individual item, but also the best price per item.

    • As an example, we could be about to buy 3 items in a particular store and my client says “Oh, I also like that denim jacket too”. In that case, the denim jacket may be $250 at the particular store we are currently shopping. In this case, often my response could be “I love that jacket too, but I know where we can get the same style, colour and quality denim jacket elsewhere today for $80”.

    • So whilst I’m not getting discounts for you at individual brands, my superior knowledge of all brands, their inventory and any sales at the time of our shopping session will ensure you are getting the best possible price for every individual item on our hit list.

  • DO YOU MAKE COMMISSIONS FROM STORES/BRANDS?

    • Absolutely not!

    • As per the answer to the last question, I am utilising too high a volume of different clothing brands for any of the individual brands to deem me valuable enough to their brand to give me commissions.

    • I absolutely could receive commissions from brands if I chose to show my clients a smaller volume of brands and encouraged them to purchase a larger amount of clothing items all in the same small handful of stores.

    • But as my client’s positive outcome is all I care about, I am using a high volume brand shopping approach to ensure the very best option is secured for every individual clothing item required from our shopping list.

  • WHAT STORES/BRANDS DO YOU FAVOUR?

    • I am not personally a fan of the high-end men’s brands (essentially the brands that make a big song and dance of runway fashion shows every quarter/season).

    • I typically don’t like the styles and designs of these high-end brands, plus their exorbitant prices are simply not justified by the quality and style of the designs which can actually be obtained by more fairly priced brands of equal quality and in my opinion, much better style.

    • When it comes to pricing, there are 3 categories of men’s clothing brands:

    1. Poor quality/Low priced.

    2. Good quality/Justifiably priced.

    3. Good or bad quality/Unjustifiably priced (most high-end brands).

    • Of the above 3 options, I almost exclusively utilise the brands within category 2. I will also utilise brands within category 1 when a client has a lower shopping budget to work with.

    • Regarding the brands within category 2 (and category 1 when required), there are a great many different brands (30 plus) I utilise to great success to achieve the best possible value for money spent for my client.

    • To be clear, I deem “value for money spent” to be as many different interchangeable/mix and match outfits as possible from within my client's shopping budget.

  • WHAT SHOPPING CENTRE DO WE SHOP AT?

    • Pitt Street Mall in Sydney’s CBD. This is the best shopping centre in terms of the widest variety of different men’s clothing stores in the one area and includes:

    1. Westfield Sydney CBD (either side of Pitt Street Mall)

    2. Market City (one section of Pitt Street Mall)

    3. Queen Victoria Building/QVB (near Pitt Street Mall)

    4. Martin Place (near Pitt Street Mall)

    5. The Galeries (near Pitt Street Mall)

  • HOW DO I PAY?

    • Due to the extreme confidence I have in achieving an amazing outcome for each and every client I work with, I offer a one of a kind payment system which no other Sydney image consultant or personal stylist offers.

    • I will carry out in full, each of the 3 steps of my service and then send through your invoice at the same time I send through your personalised outfit playbook (STEP 3).

    • If you were satisfied with the outcome after each of the 3 steps, you pay my invoice. If you weren’t satisfied with the outcome, you don’t pay the invoice (no questions asked).

    • I’m super proud to say that the hundreds of men I’ve worked with have all paid my invoice. But I like to provide this one-of-a-kind payment system for the following 2 reasons:

    1. To remove any fears or concerns you may have about improving your style and confidence.

    2. Demonstrate that when it comes to my knowledge and expertise, actions speak louder than words and I am more than willing to back my ability to achieve an amazing result for every client I work with and only be paid for the results I achieve.

  • DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS?

    • You won’t need to seek a refund because my one-of-a-kind payment system means I don’t invoice you until we have completed all 3 steps of my comprehensive consulting process.

    • And you will only pay that invoice if you are 100% satisfied with the outcome I delivered at each of those 3 steps.
  • WHY DON’T YOU HAVE BEFORE AND AFTER STYLING PHOTOS OF CLIENTS?

    • Great question and the simple answer is that I've been too reluctant to request that my clients appear on a public website that displays their face.  Whilst I could take before and after photos and then blur out my client’s face, this does not seem genuine to me as the photos could just be of any man with a blurred-out face.

    • In general, I’ve found my clients tend to be less forthright to those in their social and work circles as to engaging a personal stylist. Most men prefer for people to believe they are capable of creating their own sharp personal style.

    • As I can understand that aspect of a man's ego, and especially because my key desire is a comfortable and enjoyable experience for any client I work with, I've chosen not to outright request that I take photos of my client.

    • By all means though, if you are wanting to engage my service and happy to have before and after photos displayed on my website, I would jump at the opportunity to display my skillset in action.

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE PRIOR TO OUR WORK TOGETHER?

    • No preparation is required prior to you and I meeting for step 1 (PLAN).

    • The PLAN (Step 1) process I’ve created has been designed to uncover all the information required to ensure an outstanding outcome by the end of my 3-step style system.
  • WHAT BODY TYPES DO YOU CATER TO?

Any body shape whatsoever!! All men can, and deserve to dress sharp and feel amazing!

Do tall, trim and/or well built men have an advantage with clothing? Of course they do!

But no matter your body type, with the right advice, guidance and specific strategies I will provide for your individual body shape, you will be blown away with how stylish you look!

My advanced knowledge and experience working with hundreds of men with a variety of different body types has armed me with the style strategies and brand awareness to successfully consult to the following body shapes:

    • Short
    • Short and overweight
    • Tall
    • Tall and overweight
    • Average height but overweight
    • Skinny
    • Skinny but with a large stomach
    • Overly muscular
  • WHAT AGE GROUPS DO YOU WORK WITH?

I work with men in the following age groups:

    18 to 21:

    • This age group can have challenges with a changed body shape (teenager to young adult) and transitioning from high school into the workforce and more refined social events that requires more mature wardrobe choices.

    21 to 30:

    • This age group is developing/has developed the disposable income to invest in their first substantial wardrobe.

    • If done correctly with the use of a specialist consultant, this first substantial wardrobe haul can act as the foundation that serves to create strong and lasting impressions throughout the many important and meaningful career and social outings / events / occasions that take place through a man’s twenties.

    30 to 40:

    • This age group is commonly encountering their first challenges with stubborn body shape changes which is proving difficult to budge.

    • These men are also starting to understand the need and benefit of implementing a simple but sharp wardrobe underpinned by timeless, classic pieces rather than trend-based purchases.

    • Men in this age group can also start to experience hair loss which requires targeted advice as to potential treatments and/or choice of hair style.

    40 to 65:

    • This age group encounters the biggest style challenges.

    • Firstly, their bodies are facing the physical changes that have become more stubborn and difficult to reverse, often requiring specific strategies to ensure these body areas look as flattering as possible.

    • Even more challenging is the fact most men in this age group feel like they are in a men’s style twilight zone.

    • This is because men tend to adopt a signature style (through choice or habit/laziness) throughout their twenties and into their thirties.

    • Once in their forties and beyond, often their signature (outdated or lazy/daggy) style has the man copping regular grief from his wife/partner and/or children.

    • Throw in a busy career and family life and the key for these men is to update their wardrobe in the most streamlined manner, keeping the outfits to a sharp but manageable quantity which is achieved using a high percentage of classic staple items and a smaller percentage of striking statement pieces.

    • This combination of classic staples and striking statement pieces provides a high degree of versatility that is easy to implement (with the guided use of the personalised outfit playbook I create for you).

  • WHAT GEOGRAPHICAL AREAS DO YOU SERVICE?

I live in Sydney and therefore service different areas in the following ways:

    LOCAL SYDNEY:

    • Sydney’s Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western suburbs plus Sydney’s Central Coast up to The Entrance with no travel fee to perform step 1 (PLAN)
    • Regardless of where my client lives in Sydney, I strongly advise we shop at Pitt Street Mall in Sydney’s CBD to achieve the best outcome.

    OUTER SYDNEY:

    • A sliding scale travel fee is applied to areas more than 1.5 hours in any direction from Sydney’s CBD. The travel fee is dependent upon the particular area and the time it will take me to travel there. I can provide an exact travel fee amount upon request.
    • Regardless of where my client lives in Outer Sydney, I strongly advise we shop at Pitt Street Mall in Sydney’s CBD to achieve the best outcome.

    INTERSTATE:

    • Traveling interstate to consult to a client carries an increased consulting fee for:

    1. All the dead-time involved in traveling to and from the airport, waiting for airplanes and spending the night interstate as my process takes 2 days with each individual client.
    2. The cost of my return flights with a low-priced carrier.
    3. The cost of my motel/hotel accommodation to stay over 1 night at a low-priced provider.

    • My standard consulting fee is $3'000 for the 3-step style system. The additional amount on top of my standard fees to consult interstate within Australia is $1'000 for the cost of my dead-time, return flights and 1 night's accommodation.
    • Should a client also be seeking my optional online dating profile service in addition to the 3-step style system, this would add the additional cost of:

    1. $1'500 for the online dating profile consulting fee.
    2. The cost of a second night's accommodation stay in order to have the time to carry out this additional service. The cost of the second nights stay is dependant on the location of the accommodation at the time of my stay.

    NEW ZEALAND:

    • Traveling to New Zealand to consult to a client carries an increased consulting fee for:

    1. All the dead-time involved in traveling to and from the airport, waiting for airplanes and 1 night's accommodation as my process takes 2 days with each individual client.
    2. The cost of my return flights with a low-priced carrier.
    3. The cost of my motel/hotel accommodation to stay over 1 night at a low-priced provider.

    • My standard consulting fee is $3'000 for the 3-step style system. The additional amount on top of my standard fee to consult in New Zealand is $1'500 for the cost of my dead-time, return flights and 1 night's accommodation.

  • CAN’T WE DO STEPS 1 AND 2 IN THE SAME DAY?

    • No, the key to the successful outcome I achieve for my clients is the thorough time investment I apply to each of the 3 individual steps of my 3-step style system.

    • Step 1 (PLAN) is the foundation for the overall success of our work together and requires a full day of its own to complete properly!

    • Therefore, step 1 (PLAN) and step 2 (PURCHASE) are conducted on separate days (the closer together those 2 days are the better) and then I perform step 3 (PLAYBOOK) independently without any time input from you as the client.

  • DO WE NEED TO DO STEP ONE?

This question may be asked because:

    1. You don’t have a large quantity of clothing items in your wardrobe to be reviewed.
    2. You don’t like any of the clothing items in your wardrobe and know they all need to be replaced.
    3. You don’t have any clothes in your wardrobe due to recent weight loss/gain and throwing out/donating all of your wardrobe items.

If any of the above factors apply to you, thinking that step 1 (PLAN) isn’t needed can seem logical. But this is not the case as step 1 includes a range of crucial steps in addition to the wardrobe review which includes:

    1. NEEDS EVALUATION: A thorough discussion of what your style challenges are as well as the key motivators that are the reason behind your desire to improve your personal image. Understanding these factors is a critical component to a successful long-term outcome for you as my client.

    2. REVERSE ENGINEERING EXERCISE: Using the extensive Pinterest account I have created for my business, we carry out a reverse engineering exercise which is literally the most important step of my entire process. We view examples of every men’s clothing item as displayed within complete outfits in order to identify the dress codes, outfits and styles that will work best for your personality, career and social life. This ensures you are confident in your new personal style rather than feeling like a try-hard or somebody you're not.

    3. HAIR REVIEW: Hair and facial hair review and suggestion of tweaks, changes or a completely new style based on your face shape, hair type and level of hair loss plus factors including your career, social activities and dating life if single.

    4. PERSONAL GROOMING CONSULT: Education around non-clothing image factors (personal grooming) which includes skin care, body hair maintenance and/or removal, teeth whitening, sweat management, fragrances etc.

    5. Q&A: You can ask me any questions big or small pertaining to any area of men’s style and personal grooming which I will answer in detail.

    • As you can see, the wardrobe review is only one factor of step 1 (PLAN) and the reverse engineering exercise is by far the most important part of the step 1 process.

    • The reason most men both dislike and fail to achieve a positive outcome when clothes shopping is because they shop without any forward planning.

    • Carrying out the reverse engineering exercise allows me to then perform a thorough pre-shopping session in which I locate all the required clothing items on our shopping list.

    • This is predominantly via stores we will be shopping at in person, as well as locating any clothing items from online brands that are not available through in-store brands at the time of our shopping session.

    • By carrying out the reverse engineering exercise followed by my pre-shopping session, we will then have a bulletproof plan to carry out a successful shopping session together.

  • WHAT DAYS OF THE WEEK DO YOU WORK?

    • 7 days a week.
  • I’M ON A FITNESS KICK, SHOULD I DELAY THE SHOPPING STAGE?

This is a tricky question to answer! The best answer I can provide is:

    • If you have a solid action plan in place and are confident you will lose the weight/put on the muscle you are striving towards, then delay the process until you have achieved the body shape you desire.

    • If you don’t have a solid action plan in place, and you’re more hopeful than you are confident of achieving change in your body shape, I suggest moving ahead with your new wardrobe now.

    • Following a breakup or divorce, some men re-engaging into the dating market often set an unrealistic, likely unattainable body goal as the reason they aren’t ready to update their wardrobe. In reality, these men are often using an unattainable body goal to prevent them from having to take what they have come to think are the frightening first steps back into the dating world. If you know this is the case with yourself, don’t hold off any longer as a new partner and happiness may be passing you by.

  • DO I NEED TO KEEP PAYING FOR YOUR SERVICE ONGOING?

    • The honest truth is that no client of mine will ever have the same knowledge and expertise of men’s style that I do. Also, receiving a second opinion when clothes shopping will always be ideal!

    • Therefore, paying for my service each time you need to update or add key pieces to your wardrobe is ideal. But life isn’t ideal and financial restrictions are a reality of life.

    • So, if you don’t have the disposable income to continue paying for my service on-going (every 12, 24 or 36 months), by going through my 3-step style system, you will be considerably more advanced in the principles of men’s style and will have the knowledge to achieve a considerably more positive outcome when shopping by yourself.

    • The key principles you will learn include:
    1. How clothes should properly fit.
    2. Great colour combinations.
    3. The best brands for your body shape and signature style
    4. The specific clothing items that best suit your signature style, career and lifestyle.
    5. The outfits which make up the more challenging (but impressive) dress codes of smart casual, business casual and smart (sharp but not wearing a suit).
  • WHAT IF I HAVE QUESTIONS IN THE FUTURE AFTER OUR WORK TOGETHER?

    • Within reason, you can always send me emails/texts with any questions you may have, and I’d be happy to answer them for you.
  • CAN YOU HELP WITH MY ONLINE DATING GAME?

    Absolutely!

    • I created an optional 4th step to my 3-step style system because such a large portion of my clients were improving their personal style in part, or solely to improve their dating and sex lives.

    • And I am incredibly well-positioned to assist any single man with his online dating game because I have been utilising dating apps within my own dating life with great results for the past 10 years.

    • I have been single and using dating apps for 10 years. You may be thinking "if you are successful in using dating apps, then why have you been single for 10 years". Good question and here are the 3 honest reasons why:

    1. I don't want to have children! This being the case, I can tell you from great personal experience that the amount of women that don't want children is exceptionally small.
    2. Regardless of the fact that I don't want children and therefore have far less prospects when it comes to having a long-term relationship, I genuinely enjoy the single life and especially the variety that being single provides to my dating and sex life.
    3. As I don't want children and enjoy the single life, I don't "need" a partner for anything. I may change my mind at some point, but my dog gives me endless love, joy, purpose and great company! So until I feel any great need to share my life with a lady who also holds the same life choices as myself, I'm content to continue being happily single.

    • Therefore, when I'm consulting to single men to optimize their dating app profiles, there is not a shred of theory when it comes to the strategies and success principles that I employ! Every strategy I employ had first been battle-tested within my own dating life, and so the success principles are results-based as opposed to theoretical.

    • Just to be clear though, my consulting is strictly within the confines of creating the most optimised dating app profiles to attract as many matches as your looks and status is capable of. I am not a relationship expert and am not providing expertise on how to succeed in long-term relationships.
  • SHOULD I USE A PHOTOGRAPHER OR DATING EXPERT FOR MY DATING APP PHOTOS?

CONVENTIONAL APPROACH: Below are the 3 common approaches men apply when choosing the photos that appear on their online dating profiles:

    1. SOCIAL MEDIA: Pull photos from their own social media pages to use as dating profile photos.
    2. SELFIES: Take selfie photos of themselves (with an outstretched hand or the reflection of a mirror).
    3. PHOTOGRAPHER: Hire a professional photographer to take dating profile photos of them.

ISSUES WITH THE 3 CONVENTIONAL APPROACHES:

PULLING PHOTOS FROM SOCIAL MEDIAPulling dating profile photos from your social media accounts carries the following issues:

    MULTIPLE PEOPLE/GROUP SHOTS:

    • Dating apps were designed to make dating easier, not harder!

    • The photos on many men's social media pages are often taken with a group of other men and/or women during nights out or at other social events.

    • Viewing group photos and having to guess who the dating profile owner is will lead to a sure-fire left swipe (non-match).

    • If the men in the group shots are better looking than you, in comparison they will make you appear less attractive than you actually are.

    • If you have photos taken with a group of women, this could have you appearing as sleazy and put your trustworthiness into question.

    DARK LIGHTING:

    • Photos that end up on men’s social media pages can often be from nights out in social settings in which the photo is taken indoors in a restaurant/bar/club in which there is dark or poor lighting to varying degrees.

    • As a result, it can be harder to make out your face and body clearly. This is very problematic in the world of online dating where doubt equals a left swipe (non-match)!

    POSSIBLY INTOXICATED:

    • When men find themselves in photo opportunities in social settings and nights out, it’s not uncommon for men to be intoxicated to varying degrees in these photos.

    • When intoxicated, men are not looking their most attractive in photos.

    POORLY DRESSED:

    • If you’re on my website and we’ve yet to work together, there is a decent chance your style is not optimized!

    • Women swiping through men’s dating profiles are definitely critiquing how the man dresses as part of their snap decision to swipe left or right!

    • If you’re dressed poorly in your dating profile photos, this is decreasing your chances of getting matches and improving your dating and sex life.

TAKING SELFIE PHOTOS OF YOURSELF: Taking selfie photos as your dating app profile photos carries the following issues:

    UNFLATTERING ANGLE:

    • The angle of a selfie photo taken with an outstretched arm is often very unflattering, especially for  men with a weak jawline or those carrying weight in the chin area.

    VAIN:

    • Selfie photos were made famous (more accurately infamous) by female celebrities like the Kardashians who are notoriously self-obsessed and vain.

    • Whilst females taking selfies is somewhat accepted, this is not the case for men who will likely appear vain and self-absorbed by women on dating apps. This is especially the case when it comes to men taking a selfie photo of their shirtless torso in a mirror which are notoriously loathed by single women using dating apps (even more so than men holding their caught fish, hugging a sedated tiger or leaning against their luxury car).

    NO SOCIAL LIFE

    • Having to resort to a dating app profile filled with all or majority selfie photos will likely signal that you lack an interesting and active social life in which organic photos were taken.

HIRING A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER:  Hiring a professional photographer to take your dating app profile photoss carries the following issues:

    UNNATURAL/STAGED:

    • I have viewed the dating app profiles of countless personal styling clients who engaged a professional photographer to take dating app profile photos of them. I have also looked at websites of many photographers who offer dating profile photos as a specialty service and displayed examples on their websites.

    • A professional photographer has ingrained in them to be directing their more usual subjects (a model, wedding couple, wedding party, family, sports team, school class, family pet etc) into set or forced poses.

    • The result of being guided by a professional photographer for dating app photos is that any lady viewing these staged and unnatural photos would definitely know you have paid for a professional photographer to take your dating app photos.

    • When it comes to your dating profile, it is absolutely critical for success that your photos look as natural and unforced as possible. The goal is for the photos to look like they were taken during actual social encounters as opposed to taken during a photo shoot session.

    AWKWARD:

    • Another consistent factor I have noticed with dating profile photos taken by professional photographers is that the men often look awkward and uncomfortable in their photos. More specifically, this was regarding their general body language and facial expressions.

    • When I think as to why this would be the case, it was easy for me to imagine how awkward I would feel having a stranger take photos of me for an area (online dating) that can still be somewhat taboo.

    SERIOUS:

    • Another common theme I’ve noticed with the dating photos taken by professional photographers is that a good portion of the photos include the man having a very serious type of facial expression. I can only assume the man has been directed by the photographer to appear serious in an attempt to look sexy in a smouldering way like how male models appear in fashion type photos.

    • In my opinion, looking super serious in the majority of your dating profile photos results in 2 perceptions to the females viewing those photos:

    1. You are attempting to look like you are on a modelling shoot which can come across as vain and/or try-hardish if modelling is not actually your career, and particularly if you don’t have the looks necessary to be doing paid modelling shoots.

    2. The second possible/likely perception of a dating profile with several serious looking shots is that you’re a super intense person who takes life too seriously and won’t be a great deal of fun to be around.

    UNSOCIAL:

    • In all the staged professional photographer dating app photos I’ve seen, the man always appears very isolated!

    • The isolated and unnatural nature of these types of staged photos will almost definitely create the perception that you rarely engage in interesting activities with other peole, and as such had to pay to have photos taken in place of friends or family taking organic photos during social events and activities.

    PLANTED:

    • Such a common theme of dating app photos taken by a professional photographer is very similar cookie-cutter locations, but the man wearing outfits that would absolutely never be worn in such a setting (a simple example is a leather jacket on a sunny day with the beach in the very close background).

    • The result of the juxtaposition between what the man is wearing and the location of where he is, makes it blatantly clear that the man has been planted in that location by a photographer, as opposed to organically being in that location as part of a social encounter and a friend or family member snapping an organic photo at the time.

    DESPERATE:

    • Let me be very clear, I’m not saying that using online dating is a desperate act! I am single myself and have been actively using dating apps for years. In my opinion, to not be utilising online dating apps borders on stupidity given they are readily available, easy to operate and used by close to 80% of single Australians (in fact my 2 best mates met their now wives and mothers of their children on online dating apps).

    • Most women want a man who has dating options (women who are interested in him). Because, if a man has options (interested women) then women will assume there are reasons (value he offers) for having those options.

    • A man’s dating profile that contains the factors I have outlined above (unnatural, awkward, serious, unsocial and planted photos) is going to create the perception that he is somewhat desperate.

    • It will be perceived that his desperation built to the point that he needed to pay a professional photographer to help create for him, the options (interested women) that he does not currently have.

    • A man perceived as desperate, will not come across as high value and attractive to women in the same way a man that is perceived to have options will.

    • For 99% of men though, having a bunch of options (women interested in them) is not a reality!! But when it comes to online dating, perception can be reality through the lens of a smartphone! So, the goal is to NOT create the perception that you have had to put a great deal of intentional effort into your dating profile photos (even though we will be).

MY APPROACH AS A DATING EXPERT (NOT A PHOTOGRAPHER): My approach to taking dating profile photos combats the issues of the 3 conventional approaches in the following ways:

    MULTIPLE PEOPLE/GROUP SHOTS:

    • Your profile photos will all be sole photos of yourself without other people in them. HOWEVER, most photos will appear as though you are in fact with other people, but they are just out of shot. I will uncover how I achieve this if we work together.

    • The exception to this guideline of not having other people in the profile photos would be:
    1. A great photo with your parent, parents, child, children or a celebrity.
    2. A group shot with mates which is the very last photo that appears on your profile, but never any photo other than the last photo.

    DARK LIGHTING:

    • Simply taking photos in good lighting rather than in dark areas.
    • This can be both photos shot in the daytime as well as photos at night-time but in well-lit areas.

    POSSIBLY INTOXICATED:

    • Only taking photos whilst you are sober.

    UNNATURAL:

    • This aspect is the ABSOLUTE KEY SUCCESS FACTOR and DIFFERENTIATOR with my approach versus the 3 conventional approaches.

    • My approach results in organic-looking photos that appear as though they’ve been taken during your day-to-day life, in which you are sharp dressed and appear warm, inviting, calm and confident through your facial expressions and body language.

    • I will reveal all the strategies in which I achieve this outcome if we work together.

    FEELING/LOOKING AWKWARD:

    • If you go through my 3 step style system, we will have spent 3 days together by the time we then take your dating app profile photos.

    • I am down to earth and easy going to begin with, but particularly after 3 days together, you will definitely feel at ease and comfortable in my presence!

    • As such, your relaxed and calm demeanour will show through in your body language and facial expressions in the photos that we take.

    POORLY DRESSED:

    • As I will have taken you shopping as part of my 3-step style system, you will then have a range of sharp outfits to wear for your dating app profile photos.

    • Furthermore, I will strategically choose which outfit to wear to align to the setting and background of each of the different photos we take together.
